ABOUT RSG

The Ready Steady Go Project focuses on supporting the early development of children with disabilities in Early Childhood Education (ECE) settings in Kenya. Implemented in 10 schools, including two within Nairobi County in Kasarani and Dagoretti sub-counties, the project aims to improve access to quality ECE for 300 children with disabilities, utilizing inclusive play as a key strategy for identification and inclusion.

Teacher Training and Capacity Building

Over 40 teachers from 10 public primary schools have been trained on disability rights, inclusive teaching methodologies, and the development of Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) to support children with disabilities in inclusive learning environments.

Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Stakeholders Forum

The project has facilitated the establishment of a multi-sectoral structure bringing together various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, community gatekeepers, school boards of management, caregivers of children with disabilities, and social development officers.

Formation of Parent Support Groups

The Ready Steady Go project has facilitated the formation of Parent Support Groups (PSGs) in Dagoretti and Kasarani areas. These groups provide a support system for caregivers of children with disabilities, promote economic empowerment through income-generating activities, and enhance disability awareness and advocacy skills among caregivers.
