ANDY initiated the sports program in February 2009 after realizing the need to provide equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in sporting activities.

We believe that sport is a powerful tool to address the problem of social inclusion and that there is a definite relationship between sports and mental health. Sports contribute to increasing one’s mobility skills, competencies, social skills and self-esteem.

Currently ANDY runs five sporting activities for over 200 youth with disabilities within Nairobi: Wheelchair Basketball, Table- tennis, Sitting and Deaf Volleyball and Swimming. All teams have made a tremendous move forward and are quite successful in local events and tournaments: Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting and Deaf volleyball have brought in trophies from various national tournaments

ANDY is looking forward towards including children with disabilities in sports training especially in special schools within the country.

In the near future we aim to include also children with disabilities.

We want to introduce scouting for children with disabilities, and we prepare to provide sports training at special schools.
